The characteristics of Oil&Gas workwear
Oil&Gas workwear is made of antistatic, antacid and fireproof fabric even from oil splashes or incandescent material. Very often those who work in this type of sector also work outdoors in conditions of rain, wind or snow during the winter months. The certifications
The clothing of the Oil&Gas sector does not have a certification that specifies its characteristics. Usually, however, there are three main rules that regulate this type of clothing:
- The EN 1149-5 standard specifies the material and design requirements for protective clothing that dissipates electrostatic charges;
- EN 13034 specifies the characteristics for protective clothing from potential exposure to small amounts of light splashes, liquid aerosols or accidental splashes of chemicals that are not immediately hazardous;
- The standard UNI EN ISO 14116:2015 specifies the performance requirements that materials and assembly of materials and protective clothing with limited flame spread must have.
It is possible to integrate the following standards:
- The UNI EN 343 standard specifies the requirements and test methods applicable to packaged garments, materials and seams of protective clothing against the effects of precipitation (e.g. rain, snow), fog and soil moisture;
- The UNI EN 342:2018 standard specifies the requirements and test methods applicable to garments and suits for protection against the effects of environments colder than -5°C, such as cold storage temperatures (-25°C) or freezer temperatures (-40°C).
