The features of fireproof work clothing
Fireproof clothing is regulated by the UNI EN ISO 14116 standard which specifies precise characteristics that can be divided into three categories according to the tests to which the fabrics are subjected:
Category 1: the flame must not spread, must not generate flammable residues and must not leave residual incandescence;
Category 2: in addition to the characteristics of Category 1, the fabric must not show any holes;
Category 3: in addition to the characteristics described for Category 2, the fabric must not be altered for at least the first two seconds of exposure to flame.
Fireproofing treatments of fabrics
The types of fabrics that are used for fire resistant workwear are distinguished in inherently fire retardant and fire retardant cotton.
Inherently fireproof fabric
The intrinsically fireproof fabric does not suffer any kind of treatment, because, as the name says, the fireproof properties are conferred by the structure (polymer) that composes it. In this case we are talking about thermo-resistant synthetic textile fibers, which have the particular characteristic of maintaining the fire-retardant properties even after washing or any changes to the garment.
An intrinsically flame retardant fabric is Nomex, the commercial name of a meta-aramidic fibre that does not melt, drip or fuel combustion in air.
Fireproofed cotton
In the case of fire retardant cotton, the fabric is treated with fire retardant substances to give it flame retardant properties. The flame retardant product is usually applied by immersion of the garment in the chemical substance (products based on Aluminium, Magnesium, Boron, Red Phosphorus, Nitrogen). This treatment interrupts the combustion cycle, reducing the speed of heat transfer to the polymer.
Clothing made with flame retardant cotton, being treated at a later stage and therefore not having flame retardant fibres, has a lower resistance to washing, an aspect that must be considered in relation to the type of use of the clothing.
With reference to washing, it is recommended not to use temperatures above 60°C and to prefer neutral Ph detergents.
Customization
All fireproof clothing is customizable. In fact, we create the graphic design of the company logo and then proceed with the customization using the printing or embroidery technique (implementation aspects that will be evaluated together with our style office).
In our catalogue you can find a wide range of fireproof items: trousers, jackets, polo shirts, t-shirts, fleece, sweaters, jackets, overalls, overalls.
